IT ALL STARTED WHEN I REALIZED MY GIRLS WERE GROWING UP TOO FAST!

 

The why behind how She So Confident transpired is much more than just making waist beads, much bigger than the colorful beads, the shine, the bling, the therapeutics behind beading, and all that glittery stuff! This immense motive came to me when I realized my girls were growing up too fast!

Welcome to She So Confident, a black-female-owned small business run by a mother and her two girls. We aspire to empower girls and women of all cultures to embrace self-love, self-worth, and everything in between. Leticia Lebron, wife, a mom of 8, crochet flower designer, beader, crafter of many trades, and CEO of She So Confident. Yes, I see myself as a confident super mompreneur. But it wasn't always that way. The dedication is to contribute to helping young girls and women be more conscious of their existence. We aim to help them understand how crucial having a positive self-image and self-worth is in today's society.

Today, patience, strength, dedication, and most importantly, teamwork is needed to make a change. No one person can do it alone. So, I decided to start at home. Here's where my two girls come in, Co-CEOs and beaders behind our brand. Tiejah 14 and Rakaya 12, the 2 eldest. As a mother, you want the best for your kids and will do whatever it takes to get it done. Whether we understand it or not, we're natural nurturers by nature.

But how do waist beads fit into this? Well, let me tell you. On a mission to find ways to help my girls understand who they are and what they stand for, I came across an interesting article about Africans who were buried years ago and then dug up due to excavation for a new building in New York. 

The article mentioned how the bodies found wore waist beads around the waist, beaded anklets around the ankle, and beaded necklaces around the neck. When I learned about the waist beads, I was intrigued as creativity is my second nature. Long story short, I tapped into the beading world and came across the waist-beaders of Tik Tok. That night, I instantly knew I wanted to teach my girls how to love themselves and be proud of who they are through waist beads as they too loved creating. Educating them about the tradition of our ancestors was an important task. It would be a new journey for them.

 

"The Power Of A Beaded Strand Can Shift Your Mindset" 

We started this new journey after lots and lots of research. We even made some for ourselves through trial and error, what an instant confidence booster! You have no idea how the power of 1 beaded strand can shift your mindset. When you feel comfortable and happy with what you are wearing, your confidence shines through naturally. It's not about how other people view you, but more about the self-image you have for yourself. It was crucial for my daughters to understand their self-worth. This is where it all branched out.

I must be honest. It is not a bed of roses when starting. We've been through lots of research, courses, and lots of practice. But in the end, it was all worth it. Six months later, we are now on a journey to helping other girls and women love themselves and their self-image no matter the circumstances. We strongly believe that what you have and what you wear doesn't define who you are, but we also know that anything can be a tool to help you move forward in positivity. It's the placebo effect for me!

That's why we're here. We aim to carry on the tradition in a meaningful way as we help other girls and women do the same.
